Fireworks Mostly taken at the Firework Champions Competition Stanford Hall in Leicestershire. Photographing fireworks After setting up on a tripod with a suitably wide angle lens the final decision is about how long the exposure should be. This depends very much on the sort of display being photographed. For single fireworks, or a single tableau, an exposure of up to 20 seconds is quite reasonable. This will enable the recording of the full duration or life of the firework. The shots presented here were taken at firework shows where there was a continual stream of exploding shells. The exposure time for these pictures was between 1 and 1.5 seconds because I did not want to confuse the picture with too many overlaping bursts recorded at the same time.
