The nuthatch is similar in size of a great tit, it is blue-grey above and pale below, with chestnut on its sides and under its tail. It has a black stripe on its head, a long black pointed bill, and short legs. It is resident in central and southern England and in Wales. This picture was not taken in my garden, but on the edge of a bird table in the woods.
