Successful catch

Picture too big or too small, check out the page size options at the top right of the page. Just set it once and forget it.
The grey heron like to dine on fish and I enjoy watching and waiting for the birds to stalk, catch and dine.

Except for the mute swan the heron is the largest common bird in the UK. Despite their size they are extremely wary of people, I can not get within 50 yards before they spread their wings and fly away.

These photographs were taken at Coombe country park, Warwickshire. Coombe can boast a large heronry with around 50 breeding pairs.
